Opportunities for Faculty

As a core part of its support for the arts and humanities at WSU, the Pollart Center offers a variety of funding opportunities to all WSU faculty pursuing scholarly and creative projects that have a significant arts or humanities components. David G. Pollart Center for Arts and Humanities Fellowships

David G. Pollart Center for Arts and Humanities fellowships support larger-scale research, exhibitions, or other major scholarship/creativity efforts that advance the applicant’s professional development. Unlike projects supported by our mini-grants, fellowships are designated for longer-term (one year or more) projects. Projects should also advance University-wide arts and humanities goals or initiatives.

In addition to making a public presentation on their work, faculty supported by fellowships also agree to meet monthly as a cohort. Organized by the Pollart Center, these sessions offer participating faculty opportunities for mutual discussion and feedback, as well as mentoring and networking. Faculty who have held a fellowship are required to wait one application cycle before applying again.

Arts and Humanities Funding Opportunities for Faculty Members

The Working Group on Arts and Humanities and the Office of Research Advancement and Partnerships are pleased to announce a new funding opportunity. Process grants for $500–$2,500 will be awarded in support of faculty research, scholarship, and creative activity in the arts and humanities. The grants are intended to support items such as: materials, printing, tools, software, permissions, services (transcription or translation), event support, marketing, participant stipends, etc. Travel is not an eligible expense. Grants are open to all faculty engaged in work in the Arts & Humanities, regardless of track, campus, or unit. 

Proposals for the Spring 2024 grants are due February 16, 2024 and will consist of a short project description and budget summary. Proposals can be submitted through an online form. The form and additional details about this opportunity can be found at Arts & Humanities Process Grant Proposal.
